Manaiakalani

On Wednesday we went to Manaiakalani Film Festival. Room 13 went on the last bus because it was close to our class then we went to Sylvia Park When we got of the bus i saw my friend that lives on my road. When we got in the room our class went to the top sets they were called Number 1 sets. Then we sat down and watched Xstream Screen. In nz i think that we should have monday to Thursday and Friday should be part of the weekend but i Disagree because kids need to learn at school. We should have school from Monday to Thursday and Friday should be part of the weekend. No, I disagree with this because kids need to learn at school every five days to be smart.

Aladdin

A long time ago there lived a young boy named Aladdin. He lived with his widow mother, they lived in a small village called china that they were very poor and they did not have enough money.

One day a strange man was searching, for Aladdin. A long  lost uncle. The man claimed to be his lost uncle, “can” you take me to your mother please? After they saw his mother, his uncle needed Aladdin’s help.

He wanted Aladdin to climb down the hole.when  Aladdin climbed down the hole he was astonished to find treasure. Like gold, diamonds,sapphires, rubies and pearls. When he found the lap he went back  up the stairs and the uncle said give me the lap not intal you get me out first no lap first get me out. Then you can stay down there forever. Then he shuts the cave with a big rock.

Esther

Today in C.R.E, Mrs Clarke told us a story about Esther. King Xerxes had a party at a place called Persian empire. So the king had a party with men and the Queen Vashti was in the palace so the King told tow of the men to get the Queen. So when the king banish the Queen and he was lonely. So he had a Beauty contest.
And the beutaful lady was Queen Esther.  

is it easy to say sorry

Today we learned about a story in the bible. It was about Onesimus, Philemon and Paul.

Onesimus stole from  Philemon and ran away to Rome. There, met Paul.

Paul wrote a letter to Philemon on behalf of Onesimus. Onesimus returned back to Colossae and said sorry.

I think that it's easy to say sorry because thy might bully you.

Cross Country

On Thursday the whole school had cross country on pt England reserve. When the little boys started it was the little grills. reserve  Team 4 ran 03.5 kilometres  We had to wear our house colours. My house colour was red for Te Aroha. We had to run mud my legs were covered in mud. when i saw the finish line i sprinted and i came six when i went to go set down on the grass my Mum came back from south island. Then we went back to class and got change in the toilets when we got chang we grabbed my bag and waited out side.

Today in C.R.E we learned about showing love to everyone even when it's hard. We learned and sang a new song today. I find it hard to love people when they are angry. I find it easy to love people when they are caring.

After that Puss in Boots tricked a cruel giant that could change into any animal, to turn into a mouse. Puss pounced on the mouse and ate him.

This story is about the three billy goats gruff. Once upon time there were three billy goats they wanted to eat the sweet grass on the other side of the bridge. Along came little billy goat and he crossed the bridge and suddenly a troll popped up from under the bridge.He said "don’t you cross my bridge!" "Please don’t eat me," said little billy goat.

maui and the sun

This story is about Maui and his brothers tried to slow the sun down cause it was going fast.

One day, it got dark and maui couldn't eat so he could his brothers in.  

The sun was going to fast and they couldn't see what he was eating

Maui and his brothers didn’t have enough time to hunt eat and fish.

So Maui and his brothers decided to slow the sun down

They made ropes out of harakeke.

Maui and his brothers had to hide from the sun so he couldn't see them.

When the sun rose, they throw rope beside him.

Maui’s brothers pulled the rope tight.

Maui began to die.

The sun begged Maui to stop because he was dieing.

Maui and his brothers let the sun go.

Now Maui and his people could eat hunt and fish.

Three little pigs

Team 4 was the next act. Their item was The Three Little Pig’s, Miss Garden was the narrator. The little pig’s said goodbye to their mum and went off to build their own homes. The first little pig went and bought some hay from a lady. She built her house in a field. The big bad wolf smelled bacon. The little pig ran into her house. The big bad wolf, said “little pig, little pig let me come in”. “Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin,” said the pig. The wolf shouted “then I’ll huff and puff and blow your house down.” The wolf blew the pigs house down and ate the little pig. Miss Ouano was the second little pig, she built her house out of sticks. When she was relaxing the big bad wolf came along and said “little pig, little pig let me come in”. “Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin,” said the pig. The wolf shouted “then I’ll huff and puff and blow your house down.” The wolf blew stick house down and ate the little pig. Mr Sommerville was the thirdd pig he was very smart and built his house out of strong bricks. The wolf came and knocked on the door and said “little pig, little pig let me come in”. “Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin,” said the pig. The wolf shouted “then I’ll huff and puff and blow your house down.” The wolf huffed and puffed but couldn’t blow the brick house down. The little pig laughed at the wolf. The wolf had an idea, he would climb down the chimney. The clever little pig heard him and put a big pot of boiling water on the fire. When the wolf came down the chimney he fell into the pot and burnt his bottom. The pig laughed and the wolf ran away.

Toby and Bj were at the shop until someone could him so Bj and Toby went to king’s street and the big mixer truck was trying to get past the big red van so Toby towed the red van.

Nick the orca

Once upon a time there lived an orca his name was Nick he was so hungry that he saw some emperor penguin’s playing tiggy.He wanted to eat them but he was so lonely so he went to look for some more emperor penguin’s. then he found some other emperor penguin’s.and nick’s best and only friend.wall nick’s friend was playing we've the emperor penguin’s. nick went looked for food. When nick was looking for food his best and only friend was looking for him.nick’s friend saw a leopard seal after it then rip the seal in half he finally he found nick then they eat.

What's a food chain?

A food chain always starts with a producer. Did you know producers make its own food? for example a plant or a

plankton is a producer. Now my friends let me tell you what a consumer is. A consumer is something that eats producers for example a consumer is a cow or krill. a decomposer is something that feeds on dead meat.

And now the moment  that you have been waiting for, I will give you an example of a food chain.

Something very scary

In my reading group, we read a story called Something very scary. Here is my paragraph of me retelling the story in my own words.

Sammy told Mrs Ngatai that there was something scary hiding under room 10. Mrs Ngatai grabbed some ham and her fishing net and put it by the room and waited.The caretaker put a box next to the hole.The box was filled up with a plate of sardines outside the class. He waited and waited. Mrs Jones was the librarian and she had an idea. She put a cup of milk and quietly waited. But still nothing happened. Then the children put sparkly paper on a string and dangled it by the classroom. Finally the mummy cat and her kittens came out.

Antarctica

In Antarctica scientists and  researchers check how cold it is and keep an eye on global warming. In Antarctica it is made up of 70% fresh water.

Rugby League

Have you ever played rugby league before? On Tuesday room 13 went to the courts to have some lessons to learn about rugby league. It was cold outside.

First we had to warm up with a game called Benji says. Our coach James told us that if he says Benji says “high knees” then we need to do that thing, but if he doesn’t say Benji says we keep running.

Then we played a game called catch and pass. The blue team was defending the other team when we had to try and get 10 passes without dropping the ball or the other team getting the ball. We also played octopus and learned about passing in a circle.

My Eel Narrative

Once upon a time there was an eel named Aroha. She lived in a beautiful crystal river. She had two brothers, a dad and a mum. When people walked past the beautiful Omaru creek, they chucked rubbish into it. The plants started to die under the river. Aroha and his family got rescued by a man and his name was Jack.

Triathlon

On Wednesday room 13 had triathlon. If you didn't bring your togs you had to do star jumps. The boys had to do it with the other boys. First we had to run and do four slides on the waterslide. When

we were done, we ran to the bikes and no one was allowed on the bikes in the transition area. We had to wear helmets when riding our bikes too. We rode our bikes around the flags on the field. When we came back I started running around the field. It was the last event to do. Here are some pictures from the day. Please leave me a comment.

Camp Reflection

All year 5 and 6 student at Point England School had camp. Jordenne and Christopher were our leaders in the Force. What I enjoyed at camp was going eeling with harakeke at the Oamaru Creek. Whaea Raewyn stuck bait at the bottom of the Harakeke. One of the boys told Miss Lavakula that two eels were biting on one of the boys. When we got to toptown Mr J told the year 5 and 6 students the instructions. I really liked camp.

My Easter Break

On my Easter Break my Family and I went to the pub in Panmure. It was my cousin Huriata’s birthday. When we got there we had a Karaoke competition. My brother Billy sang red red wine by UB40. I went with my aunty Bronwyn. I was too shy go up onto the stage because there were too many people there. We left at 8pm at night when we left me and my brother and sister got one bag of lollies. I really enjoyed my Easter break.

 

Cats

Camp 2013

Today my group the Force did 2 activities. They were toptown and kayaking. It was a fun day. Mr Jacobsen was the leader of toptown and Mr Burt was the leader for kayaking.

Swimming Reflaction

Have you ever been swimming lessons before?  Room 13 walked to Glen innes pools for swimming lessons.We have been swimming for 30 minutes. Our class has been
learning how to swim and stay afloat in the water.


I am in group 1 and my instructor’s name is Toby.
One thing that I have learned is floating on my back and stomach.

I need to keep learning how to do freestyle. Freestyle is when we kick our legs,and use circle arms and breathe in
the water.
